Birmingham

My name is pronounced Tim Marie. It is a combination of my grandfather’s and grandmother’s names. You can call me “T”. I am a Florida transplant. My heart is in the South, but my roots are in the ocean. My husband and I have lived in Birmingham for over 15 years. I love this city and am so excited about the changes that have taken place since I first moved here. The revitalization of downtown, expanding nature opportunities, and the huge food scene are a few examples of what I love about Birmingham.

As a new mom, I continue to learn new things about the Magic City. There are so many kid-friendly and educational resources. I love that my son Finn is excited to see Vulcan and loves railroad tracks. We are currently taking up trail running (chasing a 2.5-year-old on trails through Oak Mountain State Park or Red Mountain Park). My son recently inspired me a write a children’s book titled Fuzzy Finny’s Adventure in the Magic City. The book is a child’s nighttime adventure story about a cat named Fuzzy Finny who explores Birmingham, Alabama’s various landmarks.

My son, Finn, is 2.5 years old and the light of my life. He has a huge personality and is in constant motion. I love seeing life through his eyes. He encourages me to appreciate the little things. He has taught me the joy of life. My most challenging moments come from finding a balance between mother, wife, working mom (educator), daughter, sister, and self. Unfortunately, like most moms out there, self is often the area that tends to get put on the back burner. I believe that caring for yourself is important in order to bring your best to those around you.

Blog

Being a Birmingham Moms Blog contributor means that I am able to share my perspective as a mom with others, as well as learn from other moms. There are so many ways to travel the path of motherhood. It is important to see and reflect upon how others have navigated the obstacles ahead and to share with others how you made it through “those moments”.

Each mom needs other moms to support her journey. I hope I can encourage and cheer others along their road. As an artist and teacher, I see this journey as a process that needs to be created, revised, refined, and reflected upon. Each moment builds the next, and many times, the toughest moments build the most memorable rewards.

Timarie F
Timarie has lived in Birmingham for over 15 years. She is a mother, wife, educator, artist, daughter, and sister. Calling Homewood home has given the beach girl her roots. Timarie met her husband, Scott, in Memphis while attending an art college. Her journey to becoming a mother was not an easy one. After many years, continuous prayers, and a little help from an amazing doctor, she became a mother to Finn (2.5). In that moment, her life changed for the better. Living to inspire and inspired to live, she wants to be there as a support and encourager to all moms. Believing we each have our own journey, Timarie hopes to share her truthful moments with others, while encouraging others find joy in simple moments.
