Grab Your Gal Pals and Celebrate :: It’s Galentine’s Day!

0

Last year as I was walking through my favorite place (Target, of course) I came across this cute sign in the Dollar Spot that said “Happy Galentine’s Day”. I stood, pondered for a moment, and thought to myself, How cute! That sign then became my inspiration for Karsyn and her squad’s first annual Galentine’s Day of Fun. Why not? No one ever said that Valentine’s Day has to be dedicated to a romantic relationship, and Valentine’s Day is a holiday where everyone should feel the love. Agree? I knew you would.

So, here is my guide to celebrating Galentine’s Day for any age.

What is Galentine’s Day?

The first question that you are asking yourself is, What is Galentine’s Day? Well, to me, it is a day around February 14th (let’s just say the during the entire month of February) where gal pals of all ages can get together and just spend a day loving each other and celebrating the love of friendship. Karsyn has a very tight-knit group of friends, and so I took this as an opportunity for them to get in some squad time and for us moms to come together as well.

How do we celebrate Galentine’s Day?

Ok, Lauren, now that we know what Galentine’s Day is, how do we plan the day? I planned the day to include an activity and lunch and then added in some extra details. All of her friends are pretty crafty, and so we decided on Do It Yourself Crafts in Homewood. I had visited this place the previous summer, and they are wonderful! The girls would be able to go in and pick what they wanted to paint, along with their paint colors, and then sit at a huge table together and craft! Then we would grab lunch (at Chic-Fil-A, of course) where we could all eat and the girls could play!

Extra details

As for the little extras, I went back to Target (of course) and purchased the banner as well as some cute plates and napkins. I also bought pink sugar cookies for the squad and goody bags. Inside of each bag was a friendship item from each of the girls. Something small and sweet that they could hold on to and remember the day by.

It was honestly one of the best days. It was great to see a group of girls celebrate their friendship by being FRIENDS! I absolutely plan on doing another Galentine’s Day celebration this year with the squad, and I hope that by reading this guide you will plan one too. Whether it be with your sisters, sister-friends, work gals, daughters — whomever — we gals have to stick together and celebrate our beauty and our friendships. We also need a day where we can indulge in some good self-care.
