The great thing about these festivals is that it’s not just about the food. You can also find music, dancing, vendors, art, and culture.

Annual Greek Birmingham Food Festival
October 3-5, 2019
Greek Food Festival Birmingham, Alabama
307 19th St S, Birmingham
This was the food festival that started my love of food festivals. Greek food is one of my faves. Get the pasticho and some dolmathes with loukoumathes for dessert. Then load yourself up with baklava and kourambethes to go. This one has live music, vendors, and church tours. It’s the oldest Greek Orthodox church in the country and a great example of Byzantine architecture.
St. Symeon Food and Culture Fair 2019
Saturday, October 12, 2019
St. Symeon Orthodox Church
3101 Clairmont Ave S, Birmingham
Be sure to check out their website, because they are having different presentations inside the church throughout the day including a choir concert. Food offerings will include baked goods from four different ethnic backgrounds representing the diverse heritages that make up the church.
Brazilian Day Festival
Saturday, October 12, 2019
Horizon Church
2345 Columbiana Rd, Vestavia
This is going to be hard because it’s the same day as the St. Symeon Food and Culture Fair. If you see me whizzing by you on I-65, it’s because I’m trying to get to both places! A portion of the money raised from Brazilian Day is used to support missionaries as well as projects in the United States and around the world. You will have the opportunity to taste great Brazilian food, enjoy live music, and see a Brazilian jiu-jitsu presentation while your children play on moonwalks, slides, and more.
