Five Podcasts for Your 2019 Playlist

The great thing about podcasts is that there’s something for everyone. From listening to a crime drama, to getting answers to your money questions, to just listening to two friends chit chat about television shows, there’s a podcast for every taste.

One thing I love about podcasts is that it’s a great way to learn something new without having to watch a video on the topic. This means I can listen while in the car stuck in traffic, going for a walk around the neighborhood, doing chores around the house, or as part of my self-care routine. If you’re looking for a new podcast to get into this year, here are a few recommendations!

Five Podcasts for Your Playlist

Freakonomics Radio

The tagline is “Discover the hidden side of everything,” and that describes this podcast perfectly! It’s the first podcast I really started following on a regular basis, where Stephen Dubner takes you through basically any topic you can think of. Some personal favorite episodes are “How Much Does Your Name Matter?”, “Bad Medicine Parts I-III”, and “Should Kids Pay Back Their Parents for Raising Them?” Find episodes here

The Dave Ramsey Show

Dave Ramsey has a long history of helping people manage their finances. During his show he takes calls and answers money questions, and there’s a good chance someone will ask a question you have yourself. I like that he gives actual answers to real callers — these aren’t just random examples used in a book, but they are real people who can give the details of their situations and get a tailored response. Vax Talk

This podcast is all about vaccines. Each episode covers a different topic with guest speakers, covering everything related to diseases and ways to prevent them. From discussing the HPV vaccine, which vaccines pregnant women should receive, and if you should really get a flu shot, this podcast is great if you want to know the science behind vaccine recommendations. Parenting Great Kids

Author Dr. Meg Meeker hosts this podcast about all things parenting. Each episode includes notable guests from Christian music artist Steven Curtis Chapman, Dr. Leonard Sax, NFL quarterback Philip Rivers, author Bob Goff, and financial expert Rachel Cruze, among many others. Topics range from “Kids and Money” to  “The Strong Willed Child” to “Gender Identity Issues” to and “The Importance of Fathers.” Find episodes here.
