Birmingham

Hi, Birmingham Mamas! I’m Sara and I have been a Birmingham native my entire life. I grew up in Shelby County but moved to the center of the Magic City when I started college. I attended UAB where I earned my bachelor’s degree in healthcare administration. I am currently working in a high risk maternity clinic helping support other soon-to-be moms.

I have loved watching Birmingham grow over the last few years. My family and I are frequently found at the Pepper Place farmer’s market on Saturday mornings sampling some of the city’s finest produce, art, and music. For as long as I have lived in Birmingham, it seems like I am always finding fantastic new spots to explore!

I met my husband, Adam, seven years ago while playing video games together. Yes, video games. We are a proud nerd family! We married in May of 2017 and haven’t looked back since! In February of 2018, we welcomed our precious daughter, Charlotte!

Our first “official” family photo with Charlotte, 3 weeks old

The last year has been jam packed for our family, but it has been the most rewarding and special time. Our sassy six month old keeps us on our toes at all times! It is amazing to watch her learning new things every day. It is true what everyone tells you — don’t blink or they’ll be grown before you know it! We spend our family days exploring Birmingham, mastering tummy time, and changing lots of diapers. I am also mom to four furbabies that we have rescued over the years. We have two dogs, Charlie and Wilson, and two cats, Pepper and George. Our house is a constantly moving storm of love and chaos, and I wouldn’t have it any other way!

I am incredibly flattered to join this tribe of mamas representing Birmingham. I have been a loyal reader of BMB since before I was even a mom! I have drawn encouragement, advice, and wisdom from these ladies for so long, and I am so honored to join their ranks. Although my tenure as a mom has been short so far, I can’t wait to share my experiences and advice with my fellow mamas of Birmingham. It takes a village, and I’m ecstatic to be a part of this one.

Sara W
Sara is a Birmingham native, happily married wife to Adam, and mother to Charlotte (2 yrs). Sara spent her childhood in Shelby County, but moved to the city to attend college at UAB, where she earned her bachelor's degree in healthcare administration. She works full time in a high risk maternity clinic where she has been supporting mamas long before she became one herself. In her spare time (yeah, right!) she can be found at the library, sewing new things for her baby girl, or wrangling their four rescue animals (two cats and two dogs). Currently embracing this new journey of motherhood and learning to accept the ever present basket of laundry, Sara's home is the perfect storm of chaos and love.
