Birmingham

I grew up in Montgomery and always thought of Birmingham as “the big city”. After receiving a job offer in the summer of 2011, I have since called this city home. And boy, have I fallen in love with it. From the beautiful views atop Vulcan, the walking tails of the Botanical Gardens, the concerts of Oak Mountain, the museums, the coffee shops, and some of the best BBQ in the South, Birmingham has something for everyone!

And since 2016, I have gotten to share this city with my British husband, who has come to love Birmingham just as much as I do! He particularly loves the great restaurants, the warm weather, and watching the Barons play at Regions Field. We have so loved raising our children here!

Moms

I am lucky enough to be Mummy to two sweet boys, Lewis and Richard. My first pregnancy was difficult to say the least, where I discovered I had isoimmunization (Rh-incompatibility) with my baby and then developed preeclampsia, leading to an emergency c-section in my 35thweek. After spending two weeks in the St. Vincent’s NICU, Lewis is now a happy, healthy, and thriving two year old. Sweet Richard joined us 14.5 months later after many visits to the UAB Department of Maternal Fetal Medicine.

Being a mother has been one of the most demanding, but also the most rewarding, things I have ever done. After spending a year being a working mom, I now get the opportunity to stay home with both of my boys and watch them grow. It’s a crazy, hectic life, but I wouldn’t have it any other way!

I am so excited to be joining the BMB team! I want to be able to offer encouragement to women in high-risk pregnancies and women who have babies visit the NICU. I can’t wait to hear from other moms in the area and share in this crazy journey called motherhood together!

Michele C
Michele is a Bessemer resident who was born and raised in Montgomery. After graduating from the University of Alabama she landed in Birmingham for work with the Catholic Diocese of Birmingham in 2011. In 2014 she met her now-husband Martin online and they shared a long-distance romance between Alabama and England until they married in 2016. Later that year they welcomed their first son, Lewis, who was born in his 35th week and spent time in the St. Vincent’s NICU. Michele continued as a working mom until their second son, Richard, was born at the end of 2018. She is now a stay-at-home mom to two under two and couldn’t be happier to spend her days watching her boys grow. Michele spends her free time reading, listening to podcasts, and studying to become an NFP instructor.
