Birmingham

I have lived in Birmingham almost 12 years. However, my first memory of Birmingham is from about 30 years ago when my father was stationed at Maxwell Air Force Base in Montgomery. My family drove to Birmingham for a major shopping trip at the then-brand-new Riverchase Galleria! As a little girl, I was in awe of the grandness of the mall — the fancy stores, the carousel, and the huge fountain! Little did I know that a few years later, I would live in Birmingham, be able to take my own daughter shopping there, and she would be just as impressed as I was at her age!

My husband and I moved to Birmingham in January, 2006. We have lived in three different parts of town — Cahaba Heights, Homewood, and Ross Bridge. What has stuck out to me the most is that even though Birmingham is a relatively big city, each community feels like a tight-knit neighborhood. Whether we were the new couple on the street or having our first (or second or third) baby, we have been surrounded by caring people. At every life stage, our neighbors and friends have always supported us with a helping hand, a hot meal, and a gracious spirit. I feel so fortunate to experience true Southern hospitality almost every day. I am thankful to be able to raise my children in such a friendly city.

Moms

I am the proud mom to three amazing children — Mary Marshall (9), Charlie (7), and Sam (2)! We are getting settled into the new school year, and extracurricular activities are starting to begin. My little one attends a local Mother’s Day Out program so I can work a few days a week. I own my own business (Kempt Professional Organizing) and help my clients organize their homes and offices.  I am so thankful and lucky to be a “work-from-home” mom! I absolutely LOVE what I do and am so grateful that I am able to be home with my kids every afternoon!

I really try to treasure the stage that each of my children is in right now! I love that my baby still likes to cuddle at night. I love that my seven year old tells hilarious stories (but doesn’t understand why they are funny). I love that my daughter still wants my fashion advice and needs help with her hair. Some days I am completely exhausted by the time they go to bed, but I am trying to enjoy each day I have with them. Even though some days are long, I know how quickly the last nine years have gone and realize that they will be grown and out of the house before I know it!

These three really love each other!

Blog

I am a professional organizer and I hope to bring a unique perspective to the BMB! I want to make your life as a mom easier by providing you with tips and tricks for your home, your kids, and your life! I also hope to suggest products at stores from Target to The Container Store that are budget-friendly and useful! Sometimes just getting through the day is so hard, but if you have organizational systems, schedules, and routines in place, it can be less-stressful and more enjoyable for the entire family. I am looking forward to sharing ideas that are inspirational but also realistic so you (and your children!) can implement and use them in your daily lives!

My favorite place on Earth…only kind of kidding!
