Looking for Last-Minute Christmas Gift Ideas in Birmingham?

0

There are many people out there who are shop early for Christmas. I’ve evern heard that some people shop year round and have a present closet where they store gifts as they get them. Others start a few months out and have a goal of being done by December 1.

Although I am a planner and very Type-A person, I just don’t put a lot of time and energy into getting my shopping done early. I’m more of a December shopper, and I do as much of it online as possible (thanks, Amazon Prime!)

However, for those who still need to mark a few names off your list, here are some local businesses that I absolutely love where you can get gifts quickly and easily, without having to wait for them to be shipped.

Original B’ham

Original Birmingham launched in 2013 and was created by Hoover resident Jason Johnson after he and his family moved here from Atlanta.

Most popular for their logo of the letter B and a picture of a ham, the company not only has a line of shirts but also other clothes, hats, accessories, and more.

Their apparel line has plenty of options to choose from, including short-sleeved and long-sleeved t-shirts, pullovers, hoodies, sweatshirts, flannels, and tank tops. (They also have shirts for kids and onesies for babies).

The home section features coffee mugs, tea towels (featuring Birmingham landmarks), posters, car decals, magnets, koozies, key chains, buttons, and lanyards.

You can order online or purchase at local retailers including Mountain High Outfitters, Alabama Outdoors, Alabama Goods, and the gift shop at Vulcan.

Original Birmingham has a pop-up shop at the North Pole at the Summit (in the former Pier 1 location) through December 24th, open from 11:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. daily.

Lucy’s Inspired

Oak Mountain resident Lucy Farmer has always had a love for repurposing old things, which led her to pursue jewelry making full-time in July, 2014. Her company, Lucy’s Inspired, features architectural hardware pieces that she turns into unique jewelry. Her signature items are beautiful prism necklaces.

She has been featured on HGTV’s Beach Flip, in Southern Living, and many other publications. Her design studio is in her home near the Oak Mountain area.

I have several of these necklaces and I absolutely love them. I have given even more as gifts. My favorites are the Tess and the Lucy collections.

In addition to the necklaces, Lucy’s inventory has expanded to include bracelets, earrings and cuffs, wraps, and shirts.

Lucy’s items can be purchased from her website and various boutiques around the city including Highland Shoe Company in Lee Branch. Gift cards and gift wrapping are also available. You can save 10% on your first purchase by entering your e-mail address on her website at www.lucysinspired.com

DL Designs

Danielle Lieb is a former third grade teacher and current stay-at-home mom who paints during her boys’ nap times. Her door hangers are her biggest seller, and she has a variety of those for holidays, teachers, and baby gifts.

For Christmas gifts, she not only has a huge variety of door hangers, but also hand-painted nativity ornaments, state ornaments with cities hand-written on them, holiday tea towels, and raglan shirts.

She can also customize pieces to match your house, nursery, or a friend’s home for a small additional charge for the cost of new colors and supplies.

Buff City Soap

Since I first visited this delicious store the day they opened in the Bazaar 280 Shopping Center in May, I was hooked.

Buff City has “awwww-naturel soaps and skincare products that are chemical free and good for your skin.” Part of their slogan is that their recipes are safe for your skin and contain ingredients you can actually pronounce.

I had always been a body wash and lotion girl, but after trying their products, I am now a natural bar soap and body oil girl.

They are very reasonably priced, make their items in store, and even have items for men and kids. (My daughter loves the bath bombs, and my husband is crazy about their beard oil.)

A great Christmas gift for anyone on your list, the Buff City Bath set comes with a bar soap, bath bomb, and lotion bar — a quick and easy gift that even comes wrapped in one of their cute cardboard boxes.

They can also customize the colors and scents of soaps and bath bombs. Some of their best selling items are their bar soaps, shower oils, bath bombs, and body butter. You can check out all their products in-store or online at: www.buffcitysoap.com
