1. Rhythm of the Dance Irish Music and Dance Extravaganza
WHAT: From the website — Produced in Ireland by the National Dance Company of Ireland, this two-hour inspiring epic features skilled choreography, dazzling costumes, new music, fresh multimedia, and a wealth of talent, derived from all areas of Irish life reliving the journey of the Irish Celts throughout history.

2. Gardendale Public Library Costume Party
WHAT: Costume party for kids celebrating St. Patrick’s Day

3. Five Points South St. Patrick’s Day Parade
WHAT: A live parade through Birmingham with floats, costumes, and free prizes. You stand on the side of the parade route and they come through. Wear green or you might get pinched!

4. Tour de Brewers
WHAT: An informal fun run that supports The Dannon Project. Every runner gets a free T-shirt and five bracelets good for free craft beer. Note that this event isn’t so great for small kids. If you have a child who enjoys charity runs, then maybe, but this one is really probably a grown-up event where the family meets you after your race for dinner at one of the participating restaurants.

5. Beef O’Brady’s Hoover & Helena: St. Paddy’s Day Celebration
WHAT: Outdoor music celebration with live bands, Irish music, green beer, Irish food, & kids’ activities
WHEN: Sat. March 17th, 2018. Kicks off at noon and goes all day at both locations. (Helena will be celebrating on a smaller scale than the Hoover location.)

6. Shamrock Shuffle Color Run at Oak Mountain State Park
WHAT: The 6th annual Oak Mountain Color Run is held in loving memory of Donald R. Ellison and Susan A. Powers. This event is held on one of the most beautiful trails in Alabama’s largest state park. All proceeds go directly to cancer research with the UAB Comprehensive Cancer Center. Note that they recommend race ready clothing and other notes about what to bring on the registration page linked below.

7. Shamrock Shuffle Fun Run at East Elementary School
WHAT: Community event where families and friends can get some exercise and have fun! Dress in your shamrocks and prepare to be wearing green before you leave! All proceeds will go towards fundraising for updated playground equipment at East Elementary School.
